I photographed Monica & Alex’s wedding back in November of 2009. They are so incredibly special to me. Maybe because they love my quirky personality, maybe because they accept me for me, as I freaking adore them. They are so awesome! Monica is completing her general surgery residency down in San Jose, while her husband, Alex, is specializing in Plastics up in Minneapolis. They are fortunate enough to see each other once a month, by flying back and forth. This particular weekend was a play weekend for me, as I was to visit San Francisco just to play, and Monica & Alex’s schedule worked so he’d be in town, and I’d get to play with film. (As both my digitals were off to get cleaned and calibrated, thus made for a great film expedition). I definitely made Alex’s weekend by arranging the location at Bean Hollow State Beach (somewhere I definitely always wanted to photograph at) but didn’t count on the deceased blue whale on the beach. Thus Alex was totally stoked by photographing the whale (He had the hugest smile, I wish I caught that one on film!). A few of my favorites from their session on the beach. Photographed on 120 medium format film and 35mm film.
