When I found out that John was a firefighter in Elk Grove, I knew that I was in for a fabulous wedding for this one of many Sacramento wedding photographers. Firefighter weddings are alway so much incredible fun. I met Nicole and John with their event planner, Tracy, at a Starbucks in Auburn. I think I was 25 minutes late to our meeting, because of snow over Donner Summit, and everyone driving 20 mph. Oops. Better safe than sorry in my world. My initial contact was with Nicole, but after that meeting, it awesome to see John completely take over from the portrait list to the timeline, I rarely see grooms take over the wedding planning. I found it very sweet and endearing for his beautiful bride and their gorgeous little girl. Nicole and John’s phenomenal wedding took place at the Lion’s Gate Hotel and Conference Center in Sacramento. I left 40˚ snow covered Tahoe for 80˚ in Sacramento, and I tell you, it takes a while to acclimate! When I got to the Lion’s Gate, I saw the Packard show, and I said, “yes! This is going to be so awesome, and then when I hunted down Nicole and she said, “What do you think about doing some photographs with the cars? I melted. I love when my brides read my mind! However, I almost think I had more fun photographing the little girls during John and Nicole’s wedding. The tears, the sleeping, the realness, the complete inhibitions of children amaze me. I love it more than anything. No fear in being themselves, these little girls. I don’t usually show “traditional” family portraiture or “traditional” wedding party portraiture on a blog post, but with their wedding, some of their portraits were mind-blowing to me. Nicole’s pregnant again 🙂 I’m so stoked for her. I hope she asks me to come down to Elk Grove and photograph some maternity portraits. (hint, hint!) The most comprehensive photographs for a blog post and I’ve even decided to post a few in color. I hope you can see how much fun I had at their wedding. It was unbelievable!
