Karli and Scotty – Tahoe Vista, Ca.
Karli works for a catering company in Napa, and when she and Scotty booked me for their wedding in late July, I knew I was in for a very special wedding. We met up back in June for their engagement shoot at Crissy Field in San Francisco, and they were so fun to photograph, I could only imagine what their wedding day was to be like, since Karli works weddings every weekend in Napa and Sonoma. I gave in and succumbed to my inner tears as I documented Scott breaking down when he first saw Karli looking amazing in her gown. Yep, I cried, I loved every minute of it. I love emotional weddings. They are definitely the best!
To add on their amazing wedding day, I finally gave in and decided to play with video with my Canon 5D Mark II. Shooting video is a completely different mind set than being a fly on the wall documenting all the moments, details and portraits of a wedding. I have a ton to learn about video, as I’ve only played a bit with it and Final Cut Pro when I was working at the Fresno Bee. This video was a very interesting learning curve, and like photography (as I grow in learn in photography) I will grow and learn using this new element to complement the visual storytelling of weddings. But hey, I got my first real video under my belt, and hopefully I will be able to find a comfortable balance with shooting stills (as my primary role in weddings) and complement with video. So much I have to look forward to!

Nice vid with the 5d mark II…..the possibilities are endless….
